Painting Estimate Template
List the preparation, painted area and materials separately. This gives the client a clear starting point before colour, condition or access change the scope.
Estimate a room by wall area
Calculate paintable wall area, gallons, labor and supplies. Enter feet and square feet consistently.
Name the rooms or surfaces
Use a plain description such as "living room walls" or "front exterior trim". It stops a broad painting line from hiding what was included.
Show preparation before the paint
Prep work can change when old paint, cracks or surface condition become visible. Giving it a separate line helps the client understand the work behind the finish.
Estimate wall area before paint quantity
For a rectangular room, the calculator uses twice the length plus twice the width, multiplied by wall height, then subtracts the door and window area. It multiplies by the number of coats and rounds whole gallons up.
Use the coverage on the product you selected
Coverage varies with the paint, surface and application. Enter the figure you plan to use rather than treating the calculator default as a market recommendation, and keep ceilings or trim on separate lines when they are included.
Lines included in this starting point
